With over a thousand lakes, dozens of rivers and streams, and many of Minnesota’s state fish records, it’s no wonder the North Shore has a trophy-sized reputation as an angling destination. According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Cook County holds the state record for largest Chinook Salmon, Pink Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout, Lake Trout, Whitefish, and Walleye.

Our streams and inland lakes provide an ideal habitat for Trout species including Brown, Brook, and Rainbow Trout with the stream Steelhead fishing beginning around mid-April. The fishing season continues until Rainbow Trout inland lake fishing closes October 31.
