GUIDED GROUSE HUNTING

Northern Minnesota offers some of the best grouse hunting in the nation. We hunt in the boreal forest — a mix of aspen, alder, cedar and conifer trees.

The 2025 season is September 13-January 4th.

  • Species: ruffed grouse, spruce grouse and woodcock

  • Full day: 6 hrs of hunting

  • $499 for first hunter
    $249 for each additional hunter

  • Dog-friendly accommodations can be provided for an additional rate at our AirBnB.

SEASONS

  • EARLY SEASON: September 15-October
    Expect thick foliage and birds still in family groups. Tougher shooting conditions.

  • PEAK SEASON: October 7-31
    Foliage at this time of year typically drops and opens up the thick covers, allowing hunters to see the dogs working birds along logging cuts and trails.

  • LATE SEASON
    Snow is likely with birds moving to thicker cover in pines and spruce. Expect longer shots, but you may be rewarded with a large bird and beautiful tail fan.

THE DOGS

We use pointing bird dogs and also allow clients to bring their own bird dogs.

ZIGGY

A two-year old Pudelpointer, Ziggy is a close working dog with a staunch point.

ZOEY

Zoey is a Wire Haired Pointing Griffon (slick coat). She is a little ripper with a very high prey drive. She goes all day and is hard to keep up with – if there is a game bird around she will find it.

IKE

Ike “The Trike,” a Cesky Fousek (Bohemian Griffon) has an interesting story – check out the episode that Minnesota Bound did about him: Seven Lives Ike.

We adopted Ike after he had a rear leg amputation; he was an incredible dog with an unbelievable nose. Scott and his clients shot many birds over him, and guests at the fly shop loved to pet his soft ears. He is missed – RIP Ike.

ZEUS

A Wire-haired Pointing Griffon, Zeus was the patriarch of our pack, our first pointer, and he taught us a lot. If you had the pleasure of hunting with him you saw his natural ability: steady on point and awesome on the retrieves. RIP Zeus.
